Model has a traditional strict design.

The housing is made of black matte plastic.

The upper surface comprises only a main power button and camera for scanning rooms.

Built-in Wi-Fi provides connection between robot and smartphone for its control with the help of iRobot Home mobile app that has versions for iOS and Android.

The interface allows the user to select a cleaning mode, set a time, set a daily schedule and control the battery charge level.

Robot scans a room with the help of camera. Then, it creates the map of room with the help of VSLAM technology. It provides movement along the optimal trajectory. iAdept navigation system with the help of infrared sensors prevents the collision with obstacles.

Model remembers breakpoint cleaning. Robot continues cleaning from this point after battery charging. The feature is useful for cleaning in automatic mode in the large premises (with an area of more than 100 sq.m.). It prevents multiple cleaning one zone.

New Carpet Boost technology is intended for cleaning carpets. AeroForce mode automatically increases the suction power up to 10 times when moving the robot on carpet with pile up to 0.8 inches. Performance reaches of cleaning 80% debris per pass.

Roomba 980 has two rubber rollers instead of the traditional main brush. They are highly effective on smooth surfaces and on the carpet. Side brush quickly rotates and sweeps debris in direction of main brush in center. Side brush is intended for cleaning in the corners, along the walls and around obstacles.

Air is cleaned with the help of HEPA – filter. It cleans the air of dust particles up to 2 microns, allergens and microorganisms.

Dust Collector with volume of 1 liter is equipped with a function of uniform debris distribution.

Dirt Detect 2 sensor is intended for mode of cleaning strong dirt. Sensor automatically increases suction power in this place.

Robot overcomes obstacles up to 19 mm and practically did not confused in wires.

Sensor of height difference protects the vacuum cleaner from falling.

Charging the battery lasts for 3 hours.

Model uses the Halo virtual wall for limiting the robot movement.

Halo operates in two modes.

The first mode forms the infrared beam at a distance of 3 meters from robot. Accordingly, the robot does not intersect this border. The second mode is designed for creating border with radius up to 60 cm. This mode is typically used for creating the border around the utensils pets, vases, etc.).
