Dyson 360 Eye Robot Vacuum with Intellectual System

January 2, 2020 by Jennifer Melton Leave a Comment

Segment of robotic vacuum cleaners today is evolving rapidly. Of course, one of the market leaders, British Dyson Company also did not remain on the sidelines. First Dyson DC06 robot was presented in 2002. But mass production was delayed due to model parameters.

Presentation of Dyson Vacuum 360 Eye took place on September 5 in Berlin during the IFA 2014 that is reasonably considered the largest exhibition of consumer electronics.

According to the company, the robot development has lasted 16 years and cost $ 47 million. Dyson has introduced its model as a “killer of Roomba vacuum cleaner”.

Housing shape differs significantly from most traditional robot vacuum cleaners.

Motor power of robots is usually low due to requirements to compactness and minimization of energy consumption. Accordingly, the suction power of most robots is also low.

Dyson 360 Eye uses a very powerful but light enough and small Dyson Digital Motor V2 engine with digital control.

It provides up to 78,000 rpm, creating a maximum suction force.

The robot height is 5,1 inches that excludes a cleaning under low furniture. Such height is needed to accommodate a block of eight cyclonic chambers. It provides the powerful suction and minimizes the power reduction during the dust collector filling.

This technology is called Radial Root Cyclone.

Robot captures the dust particles with size up to 0.5 microns.

Lack of cleaning quality control is a disadvantage of most robots. As a result, they often miss the floor areas, leaving them uncleaned.

Dyson Eye 360 is equipped with an innovative navigation system (SLAM). It scans the room and creates a map. System minimizes the cleaning time and energy consumption.

System uses a panoramic camera (viewing angle is 360°, tilt angle is 45°) with frequency of 20 fps and IR-sensors that are located in transparent panels and near the handle.

Camera is placed in the center of the upper surface.

Microprocessor forms the map of room with a set of reference points and trajectory of robot movement. This system provides a complete cleaning of the entire floor surface.

Robot determines its location in a room, finds center of room and cleans the surface by moving along a spiral.

Length of brushes of nylon and carbon fiber reaches 8.4 inches. A long brush across entire width of device allows engineers to abandon from side brushes.

This innovative brush is equally effectively cleans the any flat surface and pile on the carpet.

Company has found an original solution of overcoming the obstacles.

Replacing the traditional wheels on the crawler provides very high passability of robot.

According to the company, prototype of Dyson 360 Eye overcame during the test more than 1,000 km, and its suspension has withstood more than 340 thousand blows.

Robot is controlled by mobile app for iOS and Android via Wi-Fi.

Application provides on / off, the time setting of cleaning and viewing on the smartphone screen in real time.

Dyson 360 Eye weighs 5.2 lb.

Diameter of model is only 9 inches that is much smaller compared to other robots.

The capacity of dust collector is 0.33 liters. Charge of lithium-ion battery provides from 20 to 45 minutes of work. Charging lasts from 2 to 3 hours.
