Set your mixer before using a KitchenAid Stand mixer: 

To use a mixer you must know how to set a mixer. Here are some tips on how to set a mixer step by step.

Attach Bowl

  • Off the speed control
  • Disconnect power or unplug the stand mixer
  • Tilt motor head back 
  • Place the bowl on a silver metal bowl clamping plate now move the bowl gently clockwise but make sure the handle or spout of glass don’t get a touch from the mixer base
  • Place the bowl into the machine if your bowl can be lifted.

Remove Bowl

  • Off the speed control
  • Disconnect power or unplug the stand mixer
  • Tilt motor head back 
  • Turn bowl counterclockwise
  • Lift the bowl from the machine if your bowl can be lifted

Attach Flat Edge Beater / Wire Whip / Dough Hook

  • Off the speed control
  • Disconnect power or unplug the stand mixer
  • Tilt motor head back 
  • Slip beater onto shaft and press upward as far as possible
  • Turn beater to the right, hooking beater over the pin on the shaft

Remove Flat Edge Beater / Wire Whip / Dough Hook

  • Off the speed control
  • Disconnect power or unplug the stand mixer
  • Tilt motor head back 
  • Press beater upward as far as possible and turn left
  • Take beater from beater shift

Secure attachments

Lock the machine. If you have a tilt head mixer, lower the head and push the lever on the side to “lock.”  For a moveable bowl, bring the lever on the side of the machine up in a counter-clockwise movement. That will lock the bowl.

Speed Switch

Kitchenaid stand mixer had 10-speed switches which can be used in different criteria. 

  • Stir Speed: You should always start with stirred speed especially when you are adding flour
  • Speed 2&3 (Slow Mixing): Making cheesecakes and mashing things like bananas or potatoes this type of heavy work can be done. Baking biscuit but a lot of fats then use this speed.

  • Tight the things if the head of the mixer wiggles. Unplug the mixer and lock the head into the place the flat-head screwdriver and tight only the visible screw.
