Researching Your Summer Home Improvemnt Project

January 14, 2020 by Jennifer Melton Leave a Comment

Thinking of starting a summer home improvement project? Don’t know where to start? There are so many types of home improvements to do these days that settling on one can seem like a waste; however, taking on too many at once can cause you to spend a lot of money with fully completing a single one. It is extremely important to determine some important factors before beginning your summer project. You should know your own budget and expenses as well as a time-line to complete the work. If you are going to have to hire a local business to do the job; then make sure you put in the time to ask around and search for the best possible bids. I have found that searching the search engines with the right information can seem like an easy first step; however, many people go about it all wrong. For instance, I was able to find several good local OKC home builders in my area by including both the relevant information and service with my location. This may seem trivial but is often overlooked by many people.

It is imperative that you consult a local expert before starting a summer improvement project. Making sure your project adds to your home’s value is a great way to add to your quality of life while investing in your home. For example, I was talked into scrapping my plans to add a swimming pool to my backyard in lieu of a nice patio featuring beautiful brick pavers. By asking a local Realtor I came to realize that a pool may actually decrease my home’s resale value to new home buyers. Young couples with children often view pools as a hazard to their help due to risk of injury or even death from drowning. Also, pools are costly money pits due to the daily chemical maintenance and looming repair bills. I learned that before I begin any project I should talk to the experts first.
