Solar garden lights are an underused technology. Feigning or claiming ignorance? Here is a list of six little known facts about these sustainable little lights:

1) Solar lights drastically reduce the electric bill of a household if they are put in place or replace electric outdoor lighting. When you have solar garden lights there is no need to be connected your outdoor lighting to an electric system. Solar garden lights will come on at night and go off at sunrise automatically making sure that none of the energy is wasted.

2) Solar lights are a great green solution, and help protect the earth. We know that resources are limited, but sometimes we don’t know exactly how we can help. These lights harvest energy from the sign, and use the energy harvested to light the outdoors at night. They replace the wasteful electric outdoor lighting options.

3) Solar lights do not use standard light bulbs; instead they utilized LED or Light Emitting Diode, which draw minimal power. If you constantly recharge the batteries with the LED light bulbs you will have renewable sources of light.

4) Installation and maintenance of solar lights is a cinch. You simply insert the battery, place the lights outdoors and let the sun do the rest of the work. You won’t have to dig up your yard to place wires or remember to turn on the lights outside.

5) Purchasing solar lights can be very affordable and accessible. You can purchase them from a number of resources and manufacturers online. You also can check your local gardening store to see if they have the lights or recommend certain brands to help you select from the wide array of solar lighting choices.

6) Solar lights come in a plethora of different designs. There are solar Christmas lights, bug zappers, flood lights, ambient lights and more. There are even animal shaped lights to put in your garden. Whether lighting a pathway or adding ambient light to your rose bush, solar garden lighting offers the designs you need.
