Miele Scout Rx1 Robotic Vacuum Cleaner Review

German Scout RX1 model first appeared on the market in 2014 and quickly became one of the leaders in sales among Miele vacuum cleaners. Today the company offers an improved Scout RX1 Red version.

The model is made in red.

Its dimensions are 13.8 x 13.8 x 3.5 inches. Of course, the height of 3.5 inches significantly limits cleaning under the low furniture.

Scout RX1 Red has the following improvements compared to previous version:

• Three new features to the Triple Cleaning System;
• Sealing lip;
• Two longer front brushes made of fiber material;
• Improved design of the main brush.

Improved Triple Cleaning System provides high-quality cleaning even in hard-to-reach places.

New Chevron Style Brush Roll improves the cleaning quality of all flooring types by sweeping dust to the center.

Elongated side brushes clean the corners more thoroughly.

Control includes digital touch screen, remote control, timer and smart navigation with gyro sensor and digital camera.

Smart navigation uses Indoor Positioning System that provides the optimum trajectory during cleaning. Scout RX1 moves along straight parallel lines. The gyroscopic sensor controls and corrects the angle of robot rotation. The digital camera scans the room ceiling several times per minute, providing a permanent orientation in space. This eliminates re-cleaning in the same place.

Furniture Protection Technology recognizes furniture, steps and other obstacles, preventing collisions and falls. Seven security sensors scan the surface 180° before the vacuum cleaner. Three Stair Detectors prevent falling from the stairs.

The robot has four main operation modes.

Auto mode is designed for sequential cleaning the entire available surface. The battery provides about two hours of continuous operation. The area of the cleaned surface reaches 1,600 square feet. After charging on the docking station, the robot continues cleaning from the breakpoint.

• Spot mode provides cleaning the specified area with sizes up to six square feet area.
• Corner mode is designed for cleaning the room perimeter after auto mode.
• The cleaning time in Turbo mode is less about twice. Trajectory of motion in this mode has an increased distance between parallel lines.
• The timer is designed to create a cleaning schedule.
• Scout RX1 Red easily overcomes the edges of carpets and door sills with a height of up to 2 cm.
• Double AirClean filter cleans air and protects the motor from dust.
• The volume of the plastic dust collector is 0.6 liters.
• Remote Control provides manual control of the robot movement.
• Unfortunately, the noise level reaches 65 dB.
