Rival 4071-WN 32-Ounce Hot Pot Express

February 25, 2020 by Jennifer Melton Leave a Comment

I went on a trip with a friend last year that required us to stay overnight in a hotel. I was shocked when my friend opened up her suitcase and took out a Rival 4071-WN 32-Ounce Hot Pot Express. Instead of spending money on expensive takeout we were able to cook up a nice little dinner in our room with this pot. I loved it so much that I went out and bought one as soon as I got home. This is a fantastic hot pot for the money.
The thing that makes this pot so great for cooking is its adjustable seven level temperature dial. No matter what you want to cook you can find a temperature that works for you. You won’t have to wait long either – it heats up to 32 ounces of water very quickly.

Once you’re done using it clean up is also a breeze. The non-stick interior cleans up easily with soap and water. The plain white outside also cleans quickly and easily if there are any spills, plus it looks great in just about any kitchen.

Pros:

  • Heats Quickly: I don’t know what it is about this pot, but it heats water up fast! Way faster than on the stovetop or in the microwave. Even with a full pot it didn’t take more than a few minutes to bring it up to a rolling boil. I’d imagine this would be great for busy mornings if you’re making oatmeal or grits.
  • Temperature Dial: I like the versatility that the seven level dial gives you. At the lowest setting you can heat up milk nice and slowly, or you can really crank it up to boil water. I haven’t used it for the more intermediate settings, but my friend reports that they work beautifully.
  • Easy to Clean: I hate having to deal with cleaning long, skinny water kettles. This hot pot has such a wide lid that there are no issues getting your hand in there. The non-stick bottom is also very easy to clean up. A little soap and water is all you need to get things looking all spic and span.
  • Price: You really won’t find a better deal out there. This isn’t a pot that comes with all sorts of bells and whistles like what you’d get with a more expensive model, but who cares? It heats well for a very budget-friendly price.

Cons:

  • No ON/OFF Switch: This surprised me a bit when I first used it. There’s no on/off switch. Instead, you have to unplug it to turn it off. This doesn’t bother me because there’s no reason to keep it plugged in when you’re not using it anyway.
  • Short Cord: The cord on this pot is very short. Depending on the set-up of your kitchen this may bother you. However, the size of the pot makes it ideal for small kitchens where cord length will probably not be so much of an issue.

I really can’t overemphasize how happy I was to discover this hot pot and get one for myself. It’s a great price for a hard working pot. The seven temperature options make it easy to get exactly the right amount of heat, and the size is perfect for most meals. It even travels well! I’d recommend it especially for dorm students, but pretty much anyone looking for a quick and convenient way to heat water will love it.
