Wrought Iron Gates For Your Driveway

January 14, 2020 by Jennifer Melton Leave a Comment

Are you like many of us who simply can’t afford to take that expensive family holiday to the Caribbean? If that’s the case, you might also find yourself looking to improve your home (since you will be spending more and more time in it). Over this past year there has been a new design craze sweeping the UK that is adding wrought iron gates to your property.

Firstly I should correct myself here; iron gates aren’t a new design craze because a good set of estate, driveway or garden gates can add so much more to your property than just aesthetics.

It is a sad fact that in any economical slump the rate of crime increases, low employment combined with financial desperation means that thefts from property are rising. Here in the UK one form of crime that is shooting up is the burglary of car keys.

The common car thief knows that if he wants to take your pride and joy right from your driveway as you sleep, he can’t smash the window for risk of the alarm going off and doing so would actually be a futile effort anyway as most modern cars are fitted with coded immobilisers.

This has lead to a new type of theft, the theft of car keys from your house. The burglar simply breaks in, or even simply ‘fishes’ for car keys, deactivates your car alarm and drives off knowing that you won’t realise for a good few hours.

There is however some basic things that you can get right to protect your property. Firstly you should never leave your keys anywhere that could be reached by a metal pole, next you should look at fitting a security light to your property as this can look very off putting to criminal and thirdly if your property has the room, you should look at installing a set of driveway gates.

A good set of gates at the front of your property or business shows any would be thief that you are conscious about security and that this might not be the easiest address to steal from; a simple act of psychology can make all the difference. The actual barrier that a set of shut gates represents means that all but the most determined criminals could be put off.
